W&W: Be a Diva for a Day

Join other Missoula area women at Community Medical Center for the Missoula All Woman’s 5K on Saturday, October 3. This is the day for all of the women to be Divas, for fitness, for health, for the pure enjoyment of being out and on the move.

Women — of all ages, generations, fitness levels, running enthusiasts, walkers, wheelers, strollers — can all benefit from the coming together to encourage each other, celebrate and enjoy a grand day for themselves. The grandmothers can inspire their granddaughters, the young ones can hop, skip and jump their way to a finish, mothers and daughters can cheer and run side by side for support.

Race day registration is $30 and packet pickup starts at 8:00 am on Saturday. The 5K race begins at 9:30 and a Free Family Fun Walk follows the run at 11:00. Following the walk, Runner’s Edge and Betty’s Divine will strut their diva fashions during the fashion show.

Mama(lode) says: Welcome the new birth center

Mamalode would like to extend their welcome and congratulations to a new birth center and to some familiar faces in women’s heathcare in Missoula.

Jeanne Hebl CNM (who was instrumental in the development and opening of The Birth Center owned and operated by the late Dr. Lynn Montgomery) is opening the doors to the new Birth Center Thursday, October 1, 2009.

Located at 2404 39th Street, less than one mile from the nearest hospital, The Birth Center will have one birthing room to start, but plans to have an additional room as time allows the staff to work on it.

“The way we do things is the same as the ‘old’ birth center. Linsey Wiesemann will be in charge of the birth center, Tina and I will continue to do home births as needed. Jennifer Stires is going to be in the building also. She’s the lactation consultant,” Hebl stated in an email to Mamalode Publisher Elke Govertsen.
