By Kathrine Butler
A mutual endeavor
The valuing of another person’s being such that your heart sings for their successes and weeps
for their struggles as it does for your own
The willingness and desire to expend some of life’s precious time and energy to maintain that
meaningful connection
The commitment to risk being honest and genuine in your communication while seeking to truly hear the other has to say
A safety which allows us all to be human; imperfect yet striving
In friendship we know one of the many faces of love
Katherine Bulter dedicates this poem to her girlfriends. As they have held me up when life was knocking me down, nurtured my process and loved me despite my imperfection. I love ya, ladies!
