Mamalode is really excited about this organization and needs YOUR help in spreading the word! They need help finding girls, funds and a space to open in January 2011.
The Girls Way is an organization that provides a safe space, free of societal pressures to help young women ages 10-18 make educated choices, take positive action and develop skills and motivation to create and sustain a healthy lifestyle. We inspire and empower Girls Way members to develop into strong and resilient women by offering daily fitness classes, weekly presentations from women in the community, outdoor activities such as running/hiking/biking clinics and six week workshops on topics such as nutrition, organic gardening, job skills, environmental issues, journaling, sexual assault prevention and self defense. The Girls Way provides alternative options to potentially harmful activities such as eating disorders, substance abuse, sedentary lifestyle, early sexual activity, depression, and interaction with the juvenile system by providing education, experiential learning, mentorship, and mind/body health and wellness programs.
For young women to tell their friends:
The Girls Way is a membership club for girls age 10-18. It is a fun atmosphere that gives girls a place to go afterschool or other daily activities. It offers fitness classes such as yoga, core strengthening, kick boxing, creative movement. Each Saturday (everyday in summer) there are outdoor activities such as running/hiking/biking clinics. It also offers 6 week workshops on topics such as nutrition, hair/skin care, fashion/sewing, organic gardening, job skills, environmental issues, journaling, sexual assault prevention and self defense.
