Delilah is a young 16 month old with Diamond-Blackfan Anemia. Diamond Blackfan Anemia (“DBA”) is a rare blood disorder, characterized by a failure of the bone marrow (the center of the bone where blood cells are made) to produce red blood cells. This failure causes DBA patients to become severely anemic. Delilah receives blood transfusions on a regular basis.
On Wednesday, February 24th, Missoula’s American Red Cross chapter is hosting “Delilah’s Day,” a blood drive in Delilah’s honor. The Red Cross works hard to make sure that blood is available for Delilah and all others who are in need.
In Montana:
- 700 pints a week are needed to keep up with demand
- 30 Montana hospitals are served by the Montana supply
- Elective surgeries are often delayed because the supply is low
- There is a critical shortage of universal blood RIGHT NOW
To make an appointment, go to redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code delilah. Appointment times are available from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24th. The goal is to fill 50 appointments, so sign up today, bring a friend and save a life today.
