Mama(lode) Says: Ignite Missoula

Saturday, August 29th, 2009 in Mama(lode) says, Stories

IgniteSo this is a really cool thing. Ignite is a series of mini-speeches that are happening all around THE WORLD. The tag line is “enlighten us, but make it fast” and it is just that. Each presenter gets five minutes, total creative freedom and a Powerpoint slide show that automatically advances to the next picture every 15 seconds, whether the speaker is ready or not. It is efficient, informative and entertaining — what else is a mama looking for in an event? Oh, yeah, it is FREE.

And Mamalode is in the running to give one of the presentations. Our speech is called: You say “mom jeans” like it is a bad thing — Moms defy the recession. How to harness the power.

Moms control 85% of household spending. Yep, that is a LOT of spending (and control.) So what do these mavens really want? Elke Govertsen, publisher of Mamalode, lets loose on the surprising, conflicted and powerful world of the moms in your community.

This means I am talking about YOU and what you really want in your life, work, family, shopping, marketing and interactions.  You spend a lot of money, you care about where your money goes and businesses need to care about you.  So send me some feedback… what are you looking for, needing, not getting?  What DOES work as far as influencing you?  Share your voice here.

To give this speech we need votes. To vote and/or get free tickets to this event, go to: http://www.ignitemissoula.com/

To vote click on the “submit and vote” button on the right hand side (you don’t need to submit a speech to vote, but if you do let us know!)  Also on deck are some Mamalode favorites, Karen Marsolek (Everybody’s Belly Button) and Andy Commons (Ad words). But check out the other submissions and vote for what you really want to see/hear. So share the love and let’s rock-a-by-baby the vote. You Mama’s are a powerful force in this community.  Let’s show ‘em what we’ve got by voting.

When:  Wed night (Sept. 2) at 6:30 pm

Where: MCT (Missoula Children’s Theater)

Why: Because you are bunch of amazing, smart ladies who need a night out.
