So I spend an absurd amount of time at my computer. Granted it is a total hoot to put the magazine and this website together, but it is a bit tough on the back. Just as I was starting to feel like I might completely calcify into my office chair I got myself to a dance class.
While boogying away at the Downtown Dance Collective I was thrilled to watch a mom come in with her 1 year old, set him up nearby and start the class. The last time I was there (FAR too long ago) another kiddo was hanging out while his mama took breakdancing and yet another little one was jumping in and out of the dancing.
The DDC’s weekly schedule is packed with fun for moms. And then I found out that they also offer classes for kiddos (like this Sat at 11 with cool Missoula mom, Grace Decker on the fiddle) AND a great program called “Drop off so you can shop” (Fri Nov 27th from 10-2, but they are doing several of them so check for more) where you get to shop downtown while your kiddos, three and older, get to do arts and dance and have snacks. I think this arrangement is much more fun for everyone.
Now I am a huge fan of any business that can not only get my groove back in only an hour, but one that welcomes mamas and their kiddos has got my dollar. We all know if is really easy to put off taking care of ourselves, but thanks to the DDC and other businesses who see the value (intrinsic and financial) in letting us come in whatever crazy combination it takes, we have no excuses. So get boogying, Mamas. Take good care of yourselves, have fun, and I will do the same.
